The other students called for help but people around could not also swim. By the time a lifeguard came, he tried to rescue him but it was late already.

“The doctor said he was brought to the hospital exactly 05.10pm lifeless. After leaving the hospital, we went to the mortuary to confirm that he was dead.”

He noted that the parents of the deceased had been notified, adding that three people were currently detained for interrogation.

When contacted on the telephone, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, DSP Folashade Odoro, said “the matter is under investigation.”

Also, the Public Relations Officer of the school, Mr. Biodun Olanrewaju, sympathised with the family of the deceased.

In his words, He appealed to students of the university to place priority on their academics ahead of  social activities.

He said, “We sympathise with the student’s parents. We appeal to our students not to endanger their lives.

“They should allow us to play the role of their parents by staying within the campus. It is painful to lose any student.”
May his soul rest in peace.
