Minister Of Education Suspends FUTA Vc and Bursar Over Corruption Charges.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has reportedly suspended the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Professor Adebiyi Daramola.
Adamu is also said to have suspended the school’s Bursar, Dr. Emmanuel Oresegun.
According to Sahara Reporters, both officials have been accused of fraud to the tune of N24 million, and are being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Daramola is facing a nine-count charge of offences including misappropriation of public funds, misuse of office and obtaining money under false pretense among others.
Oresegun, on the other hand, is facing a two-count charge of mishandling unpaid funds and fixing funds without due process.
Recall that the VC was arrested in November 2016 after being accused of deliberately hitting Abiodun Atunbi, a member of FUTA’s Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) with his car.
