Why Boko Haram resumed bombings in Abuja, other towns

Unrelenting onslaught by the Nigerian forces against the Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast may have forced many of the terrorists to escape the war front to seek refuge in the cities.
Sources familiar with the war, told Vanguard last night that the three-month deadline given to the military by the President to clear the Northeast of the menace of Boko Haram, has
strengthened the troops to go all out saints the insurgents.
Guided by the deadline, the Chief of Army Staff,  The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has reiterated the military’s determination to end Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria in December this year.
It said Buratai restated the commitment during a routine operational visit to frontline troops in parts of the Northeast.
Buratai said, “I want to reassure Nigerians that Nigerian Army is ever determined to succeed in meeting up with the set deadline of defeating Boko Haram terrorists by the end of this year.”
Already, people living in some parts of Maiduguri and Damaturu, have confessed that the military offensive by the Nigerian troops have had a devastating effect on the once dreaded strongholds of the insurgents.
A top Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, politician in Borno confirmed to Vanguard that some of the insurgents were fleeing to Maiduguri and Damaturu, following sustained bombings of their locations by the military in recent weeks.
