FUTO Bans Okada Operations Inside School

    The  Federal University Of Technology Owerri have banned the operation of okada/bike inside the school premises. This was made known by the SUG Public Relations Officer Comr Uzoho Chuka during a media chat with one of our correspondence in FUTO.

  According to him, it has been the wish of the university to ban okada operations for a long time, shuttle busses will replace okada to convey students from their hostel to lecture hall and from lecture hall to lecture hall.

   Many students have applauded the decision of the university to ban okada as hoodlums who hide under the skin of okada riders has robbed students of their possession and in most cases rape some female students during the night, also most robberies at the hostel are carried out with the help of okada.

     Some students however have frowned at the recent development owing to the fact that the shuttle bus provided by the school cannot plight the bad road of umuchima and ihiagwa during rainy season, also most people whose lecture hall are far like SMAT and SOHT students will have issue going to their lecture hall. Some also stressed that the shuttle bus will not be effective during rush hours like exam and test period.
