UNILORIN PARTNERS WITH US FIRM TO PRODUCE AFRICA LARGEST SOLAR PLANT
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is partnering with a U.S based company Arrow capital to build a 500 megawatts solar energy plant as part of efforts to tackle the challenge of power supply in Nigeria. Prof.AbdulGaniyu Ambali, the institution's Vice-Chancellor, disclosed this while speaking at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) forum in Abuja on Sunday. He claimed that the project will cost 1.5 billion naira.
The manager of Arrow capital disclosed that when the project is completed, the megawatt will be enough to take care of the power issue in Kwarra and neighboring state as the megawatts produced will be too much for the institution to consume alone. He also said that they reason while they are partnering with unilorin is because unilorin has many reliable innovative projects. It will also help to solve the problem on unemployment in the country as the project when completed will be the largest solar plant in Africa
