Unilag Students Protest Over Expelled SUG Executives

Academic activities and movement at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) were interrupted yesterday by protesting students who were agitating for immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the 11 executive members of the institution’s students union.

The protesters, not minding the heavy rain, blocked the university main gate hindering students and visitors from entering the university premises.

The students also demanded a call to lift the illegal ban on the UNILAG Students Union and improvement in welfare and conducive learning environment.

He also said the school management have issued a press statement to that effect, informing the public that the University of Lagos students are not protesting rather, the gathering outside the gate consists of rusticated students and enemies of the institution.
It seems this period is a period of protest in most top federal universities. Recall that on 17th of February FUTO student protested over hike in school fees, a week before that FUTMINNA students protested over the death of their comrade which led to the burning down of the school medical. Alvan Ikoku College of education as of last year protested over hike in tuition fee. Currently FUTO and FUTMINNA are on shut down.
