FUNAAB Admits 3,800 New Students

In the just concluded Matriculation Ceremony for Freshers held on the 9th of March 2016, Management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has disclosed that only 3,800 new students were offered admission into the institution for the 2016/17 academic session.
The newly-admitted students are spread across the 10 Colleges of the University namely: College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD), College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), College of Engineering (COLENG), College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM), College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), and College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT).

Others are: College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET), College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), Colleges of Biological Sciences (COLBIOS) and College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS).

During the ceremony, the institution delivered a Commencement Lecture titled, “Running to Win: Is the Prize Worth the Price?” handled by Prof. Isaac Aiyelaagbe of the University’s Department of Horticulture, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT).
It would be recalled that the last edition of the Commencement Lecture, which was third in the series, was delivered by Mrs. Folusho Olaniyan, the Chief Executive, Contact Consulting Nigeria Limited and was titled, “Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship in Nigeria Universities: Students’ Choices, Nigeria’s Legacy”.
Quiet obvious, the 3,800 students admitted from the 2016/17 session is less than 40% of the total applicants who made FUNAAB either their first and or second choice in the UTME conducted by JAMB for admission into tertiary institutions of learning in the country last year. Congrats to the lucky ones!
